What’s your worst anxiety symptoms?

Anxiety can manifest in many forms. Some might experience it as a panic attack, while others can develop a fear of certain things, and these things become their triggers of anxiety.

Often, anxiety is a persistent fear or worry that resides in the back of your mind. While other times, it might morph itself into anger or a terrifying feeling that causes your heart to pound and thoughts to become incoherent.

While most of the anxiety symptoms are common across people having this disorder, some might experience symptoms that don’t fit the established narrative. Things like physical pain and feeling of skepticism can emerge from an anxious mind.

We looked around to find what anxiety symptoms people experience and found the following answers to the question “What’s your worst symptom of anxiety?”

  • Inability to take a satisfying breath – Anxiety can make it harder to take deep breaths. This problem can last for hours, to the point where breathing becomes unnatural. When you fill your chest with so much forced air, you begin to experience chest pain, causing heightened anxiety.
  • Paranoia – Anxiety can make you irrationally paranoid about everything. When combined with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it becomes unbearable.
  • Guilt – “Guilt” for feeling a certain way, “guilt” for being distracted at school or work, “guilt” for not spending enough time with loved ones because of anxiety.
  • Sarcasm and arrogance – Traits like these might surface to compensate for the feeling of weakness, nausea, exhaustion, and shakiness.
  • Inability to speak – When under stress, it is head to form proper sentences or speak cohesively. Stammering, stuttering, and blanking out is common while speaking while anxious.
  • Avoiding interactions – It can be enticing to look at a phone screen or scroll through Facebook to avoid eye contact and talking to people. Interactions with people while under stress can be frightening.
  • Loss of appetite – Anxiety can be tiring to the point where it becomes a chore to eat. The decrease in hunger is a side effect of laziness that comes with the fatigue associated with anxiety.
  • Isolation and loss of friends – Anxiety can make it hard to concentrate on a conversation, making it much enticing to isolate. The isolation will eventually result in the loss of friends as they stop trying to reach out after a while.
  • Muscle spasms – When stress levels rise, muscles become stiff, making them hard to move. These spasms can also result in pain throughout the body.
  • Frustration – Getting frustrated at little things can be an annoying sign of anxiety. Getting mad at the inability to do mundane works like folding a blanket the right way, continuously picking at nails can be anxiety disorder symptoms.
  • A constant need to feel wanted – Even if people aren’t actively ignoring you, it feels like they are. Anxiety might drive you to hate people who aren’t texting you back soon enough.
  • Mental fog – Inability to follow a conversation and to ask “What” or “Huh?” all the time is an anxiety symptom.
